World T.E.A.M. brings adaptive and able-bodied athletes together by empowering, enabling and engaging individuals through inclusive athletic events.
For more than 25 years, our organization has used athletics to challenge men, women and children with disabilities to accomplish goals they never thought possible. Since our very first inclusive event in 1987, World T.E.A.M. creates challenging outdoor athletic events that bring together adaptive and able-bodied citizens. We change lives through sports as diverse as bicycling, mountain climbing, white water rafting, sea kayaking and more.
World T.E.A.M. creates and manages other outdoor events for adaptive and able-bodied athletes in several states. These events include our annual Face of America bicycle and hand cycle ride to Gettysburg, Face America Liberty in New York and New Jersey honoring adaptive military veterans, as well as our Adventure Team Challenge in western Colorado. Our occasional events include the CanAm Veteran’s Challenge bicycle ride from the United States to Canada, our Sea to Shining Sea coast-to-coast bicycle ride, and our ongoing Military Initiative, a series of challenging outdoor events for adaptive military veterans, including our Soldiers to the Summit climbs of high mountain peaks worldwide.
Participant fundraising and corporate donations, grants and sponsor support provide funding for our organization and our events. In 2016, approximately 89 percent of all incoming financial support was applied directly to cover the costs of our events and our participating athletes. Face of America is our primary fundraising event for the year, helping support other events from World T.E.A.M.
Chartered as a national 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization in 1993, World T.E.A.M. is headquartered in Holbrook, New York.
